Staff Product Designer driving design direction across key areas of the Shakepay product. Tackling complex challenges and influencing product strategy in a fintech startup.
Responsibilities
Lead high-impact, ambiguous initiatives: Take ownership of the most complex product challenges, turning unclear problem spaces into clear, actionable solutions from concept to execution.
Drive product and design direction: Partner with Product and Engineering to shape roadmap decisions, influence strategy, and ensure we’re solving the right problems.
Design for measurable impact: Deliver experiences that improve core metrics like activation, engagement, retention, and conversion, while maintaining a high bar for quality.
Operate across teams and product areas: Work horizontally to ensure a cohesive product experience across surfaces, aligning teams and driving consistency at scale.
Elevate design systems as a strategic lever: Drive the evolution of scalable design systems and patterns to improve quality, speed, and consistency across the organization.
Raise the bar for design: Set standards for craft and execution. Provide high-impact feedback, guide critical work, and help define what great looks like at Shakepay.
Mentor and multiply the team’s impact: Support and coach designers through hands-on feedback, collaboration, and example—making the entire team more effective.
Requirements
8+ years of experience designing and shipping high-quality consumer products
Proven track record of leading complex, ambiguous initiatives with measurable impact
Strong product thinking, with the ability to balance user needs, business goals, and technical constraints
Experience influencing product direction and aligning teams without direct authority
Ability to operate at multiple levels—from systems and strategy to detailed execution
Deep understanding of scalable design systems and patterns
Excellent communication and storytelling skills across disciplines and levels
Collaborative by default, with strong partnerships across Product, Engineering, and Marketing
Comfortable working in tools like Figma and prototyping interactions to bring ideas to life
