About the role

  • Staff Product Designer driving design direction across key areas of the Shakepay product. Tackling complex challenges and influencing product strategy in a fintech startup.

Responsibilities

  • Lead high-impact, ambiguous initiatives: Take ownership of the most complex product challenges, turning unclear problem spaces into clear, actionable solutions from concept to execution.
  • Drive product and design direction: Partner with Product and Engineering to shape roadmap decisions, influence strategy, and ensure we’re solving the right problems.
  • Design for measurable impact: Deliver experiences that improve core metrics like activation, engagement, retention, and conversion, while maintaining a high bar for quality.
  • Operate across teams and product areas: Work horizontally to ensure a cohesive product experience across surfaces, aligning teams and driving consistency at scale.
  • Elevate design systems as a strategic lever: Drive the evolution of scalable design systems and patterns to improve quality, speed, and consistency across the organization.
  • Raise the bar for design: Set standards for craft and execution. Provide high-impact feedback, guide critical work, and help define what great looks like at Shakepay.
  • Mentor and multiply the team’s impact: Support and coach designers through hands-on feedback, collaboration, and example—making the entire team more effective.

Requirements

  • 8+ years of experience designing and shipping high-quality consumer products
  • Proven track record of leading complex, ambiguous initiatives with measurable impact
  • Strong product thinking, with the ability to balance user needs, business goals, and technical constraints
  • Experience influencing product direction and aligning teams without direct authority
  • Ability to operate at multiple levels—from systems and strategy to detailed execution
  • Deep understanding of scalable design systems and patterns
  • Excellent communication and storytelling skills across disciplines and levels
  • Collaborative by default, with strong partnerships across Product, Engineering, and Marketing
  • Comfortable working in tools like Figma and prototyping interactions to bring ideas to life
  • Passion for Bitcoin, financial empowerment, and the future of money
