About the role

  • Lead Product Designer owning complex enterprise software experiences for Mark43’s public safety platform. Shaping tools used by law enforcement, firefighters, EMS professionals, and dispatchers.

Responsibilities

  • Set design direction for a critical product area and create a vision for its evolution
  • Lead complex initiatives from discovery through delivery
  • Conduct research, synthesize insights, explore approaches, and partner with Product and Engineering
  • Make product tradeoffs balancing user needs, technical constraints, business priorities, and product strategy
  • Work directly with first responders and public safety agencies
  • Design experiences across dispatch workstations, in-vehicle laptops, tablets, and mobile applications
  • Provide critique, improve consistency, contribute to the design system and patterns, and support other designers
  • Present product visions and design recommendations to customers and senior leaders
  • Explore AI and emerging technologies for public safety workflows and product experiences
  • Refine interactions in Figma, review implementations with Engineering, address edge cases, and support product delivery

Requirements

  • 10+ years of professional product design experience
  • Portfolio demonstrating significant ownership and impact on shipped software products
  • 5+ years of experience designing complex enterprise SaaS products or similarly sophisticated systems and workflows
  • Track record of leading design for a substantial product area, including setting direction, prioritizing opportunities, and driving work from early discovery through shipped outcomes
  • Strong product judgment across customer needs, product strategy, interaction design, systems thinking, and detailed execution
  • Deep experience with qualitative and quantitative research
  • Experience partnering closely with Product and Engineering leaders and influencing decisions without formal authority
  • Excellent interaction and visual design skills
  • Ability to communicate complex design decisions clearly and persuasively
  • Comfort operating in a fast-moving, ambiguous environment
  • Applicants must be authorized to work for any employer in the country in which the role is being hired
  • Experience in public safety, law enforcement, fire, EMS, mission-critical software, situational awareness, maps, responsive experiences, native iOS or Android applications, multimodal interactions, or AI/ML-powered products is a plus
