About the role
- Engineering Manager leading Slice’s DevEx platform for restaurant technology. Improving Kubernetes infrastructure, CI/CD, reliability, and developer productivity across distributed engineering teams.
Responsibilities
- Partner with engineering leadership to identify developer friction and platform opportunities
- Measure success through deployment velocity, system reliability, platform adoption, and developer productivity
- Guide architecture and technical strategy across the Internal Developer Platform, deployment workflows, and cloud infrastructure
- Build reusable patterns, self-service tooling, and strong guardrails
- Give platform engineers context, decision boundaries, and meaningful ownership
- Encourage automation-first practices, reduce toil, and create scalable self-service capabilities
- Improve platform delivery frequency and safety
- Standardize workflows, improve observability, and embed operational excellence
- Hire, coach, and retain platform and software engineers
- Provide ownership, feedback, and growth opportunities
- Partner with engineering teams to understand pain points and drive platform adoption
- Lead the DevEx Deploy & Run team and collaborate across Slice
Requirements
- Experience managing high-performing platform engineering teams
- Skilled at project planning/tracking and creation of team roadmaps
- Technical expertise across Kubernetes, GitOps (ArgoCD), CI/CD (GitHub Actions), Python automation, AWS, Terraform, and Datadog
- Proven track record of improving developer experience, deployment reliability, and engineering effectiveness
- Platform mindset focused on reusable systems, self-service tooling, and scalable guardrails
- Clear, direct communication across technical platform teams and product engineering stakeholders
