About the role

  • Payroll Analyst supporting Canadian payroll processing, compliance, reconciliations, and employee inquiries at Softchoice, an IT solutions provider serving Canadian and U.S. organizations.

Responsibilities

  • Support accurate, timely, and compliant payroll processing for employees across Canada, with some support for US and/or global payrolls
  • Participate in Canadian payroll processing using ADP Workforce Now
  • Validate payroll data from SAP SuccessFactors and other HRIS sources
  • Partner with ADP service representatives to process payroll and resolve issues or exceptions
  • Prepare and enter payroll adjustments, one-time payments, retro payments, and other payroll entries in ADP Auto Form
  • Ensure accurate terminations, vacation pay calculations, Records of Employment, and final pay requirements
  • Process and remit payroll deductions and contributions, including garnishments, workers’ compensation, benefits, RRSP, and other payroll items
  • Support ROE preparation after applicable payroll cycles
  • Assist with quarter- and year-end reconciliation, balancing, statutory filings, T4/RL-1, T2200 and TP-64 preparation, Workers Compensation, and Employer Health Tax reporting
  • Monitor the payroll inbox and respond to employee and internal partner inquiries
  • Pull reports from SuccessFactors and ADP Workforce Now, validate system data, investigate discrepancies, and make corrections
  • Audit payroll records for hires, terminations, salary increases, deductions, direct deposits, taxable benefits, and earnings
  • Conduct employee tax setup in ADP Workforce Now
  • Assist with payroll integration testing and system configuration
  • Work with HR, Finance, and internal partners to resolve discrepancies and improve payroll processes and controls

Requirements

  • Minimum 4 years of payroll experience
  • Sound knowledge of Canadian payroll, employment standards, statutory deductions, and related compliance requirements
  • Experience and sound knowledge of ADP Workforce Now
  • Advanced Excel skills, including VLOOKUPs, pivot tables, formulas, and strong data validation techniques
  • Comfort using Copilot, Claude, and other AI-enabled tools
  • Strong computer skills with Microsoft Office, particularly Microsoft Excel
  • Experience with SAP SuccessFactors is an asset
  • Understanding of global payroll rules and regulations is an asset
  • Payroll Compliance Professional designation, Canadian Payroll Association designation, or equivalent experience is preferred
  • Post-secondary education in Finance, Payroll, Accounting, HR, or related fields is recommended
  • Exceptional customer service, interpersonal, and communication skills
  • Strong judgment, prioritization, and independent-working skills
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced, high-volume, deadline-driven environment
  • Criminal record check, education verification, and reference checks required before starting
