About the role

  • Leading Sun Life’s enterprise data architecture strategy, governance, and team. Enabling data platforms, analytics, and AI foundations across a global financial services organization.

Responsibilities

  • Lead the overall Enterprise Data Architecture Strategy and Roadmap
  • Develop and maintain multi-year enterprise data architecture strategy aligned with business priorities, modernization, cloud adoption, and transformation goals
  • Govern enterprise data standards, patterns, reference architectures, metadata, lineage, semantic models, and data product standards
  • Lead the Data Architecture team and embed Solutions Architects in key initiatives
  • Support scalable enterprise data architectures and information models for analytics, reporting, business intelligence, machine learning, and AI
  • Collaborate with regional Chief Data Officers, Data Delivery, Data Engineering, Data Science, Analytics, platform, security, infrastructure, and business teams
  • Align enterprise architecture strategy with data platform modernization and business transformation investments
  • Lead semantic architecture, metadata management, and knowledge discovery capabilities
  • Assess cloud and on-premise deployment decisions based on latency, scalability, security, regulatory, and consumption requirements
  • Monitor technology, regulatory, privacy, compliance, retention, audit, and governance developments
  • Keep senior technology and data leadership informed of trends, opportunities, risks, and best practices
  • Lead, coach, mentor, and develop Directors, Architects, and Senior Consultants across geographies
  • Drive adoption of enterprise architecture principles, standards, and best practices across global technology organizations

Requirements

  • Minimum 10 years of experience in Enterprise Data Architecture, Information Architecture, Data Management, or related disciplines
  • Deep expertise in enterprise data architecture, information management, analytics platforms, and cloud-native data ecosystems
  • Experience defining and implementing enterprise-scale data strategies supporting business transformation
  • Ability to manage through influence in a complex global environment
  • Strong consulting, communication, organizational, negotiation, and stakeholder management skills
  • Strong experience with data warehousing, data lakes/lakehouses, data products, metadata management, master/reference data management, data lineage, data governance, Kafka, relational and NoSQL databases, graph and semantic technologies, and real-time data platforms
  • Experience supporting AI and machine learning initiatives through scalable data architecture and governance
  • Minimum 2 years of hands-on experience designing enterprise-scale cloud-native data solutions on AWS
  • Strong knowledge of AWS S3, Redshift, Glue, Athena, SageMaker, Lake Formation, and CloudFormation
  • Bachelor's or Master's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Information Systems, Information Technology, or related discipline
  • Minimum 10 years of architecture leadership experience focused on Enterprise Data Architecture strategy and implementation
  • Experience leading and managing Solution Architects in a matrixed organization
  • Bilingualism (French and English, oral and written) required for Quebec positions
