About the role

  • Compliance Testing Manager evaluating controls, regulations, and risks for Sun Life Financial Canada. Developing test plans, reports, recommendations, and AI-enabled compliance improvements.

Responsibilities

  • Manage and execute the Compliance Testing Program for Sun Life Financial Canada
  • Design and execute test procedures by reviewing regulatory requirements, policies, procedures, key controls, and documenting work papers
  • Communicate with stakeholders and obtain information required to complete testing
  • Escalate engagements to management as required
  • Identify compliance issues and develop recommendations for business action plans
  • Write compliance testing reports documenting risk, scope, findings, and recommendations
  • Support development of Annual Compliance Test Plans and schedules for Canadian Business Units
  • Review program outcomes for trends and opportunities to improve effectiveness, including AI support tools
  • Maintain relationships with compliance representatives and line management
  • Contribute to multiple Compliance projects with different stakeholders

Requirements

  • 3–7 years of progressive Compliance Testing or Internal Audit experience
  • Experience with audit procedures, planning, testing, and sampling methods within an OSFI-regulated financial institution or large auditing firm
  • Excellent knowledge of Regulatory Compliance Management programs, risks, controls, and testing methodology
  • Ability to interpret legislation and regulations into business impacts, compliance elements, and regulatory risks
  • Knowledge of regulatory requirements and securities laws applicable to financial institutions
  • Experience developing AI Agents and using GenAI tools
  • Ability to identify and deploy innovative solutions to improve efficiency and accuracy
  • Excellent verbal and written communication and strong interpersonal skills
  • Undergraduate degree in Business, Accounting, Finance, or related field
  • Ability to gather, analyze, and evaluate facts and present concise findings
  • Expertise in Asset Management, Group Benefits, and Group Retirement Services preferred
  • Experience using a GRC platform such as Archer preferred
  • Bilingualism in English and French preferred
