About the role

  • Compliance Manager advising Affirm’s consumer card program on U.S. financial regulations. Reviewing card products, marketing, disputes, and remediation for compliant growth.

Responsibilities

  • Own end-to-end compliance advisory for the Affirm Card program, including marketing, checkout, onboarding, Apple Pay, Google Pay, disputes, and servicing
  • Partner with Product, Engineering, and Operations throughout the development lifecycle
  • Apply EFTA (Reg E), TILA (Reg Z)/CARD Act, UDAAP, and related regulations to novel regulatory questions
  • Review and approve card marketing, disclosures, and UX for regulatory compliance and consumer protection
  • Lead root-cause analysis and sustainable remediation for Card compliance issues
  • Support regulatory exams and bank partner audits with Compliance Testing, Legal, and Risk
  • Maintain the Card program compliance risk assessment and control inventory, identifying coverage gaps
  • Develop and maintain Card-specific compliance training and reference materials
  • Serve as the compliance expert for new and evolving Card features, surfacing risk early in the product lifecycle

Requirements

  • 8+ years of experience in a compliance advisory role within financial services with a Bachelor's degree; alternatives include 6+ years with a Master's degree, 3+ years with a PhD, or equivalent
  • Meaningful experience with card or payments compliance
  • Deep working knowledge of EFTA (Reg E) and TILA (Reg Z)/CARD Act as applied to card products
  • Familiarity with TISA (Reg DD) and UDAAP
  • Hands-on experience with card network rules such as Visa and Mastercard is a plus
  • Demonstrated ability to operate independently in ambiguous, fast-paced environments and make risk-based decisions
  • Experience partnering with Product on new products, features, or servicing programs
  • Experience owning issues from root-cause analysis through sustainable remediation
  • Experience advising Product, Engineering, and Operations stakeholders on a card, lending, or payments program
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills, including presenting complex regulatory issues to non-compliance audiences
  • Strong strategic thinking and problem-solving skills
  • Ability to present to senior leadership and leadership committees
  • Inquisitive and proactive approach to identifying problems and proposing practical solutions
  • Compliance certifications are a plus
