About the role

  • Compliance Manager owning risk-based advisory for Affirm Card at Affirm, which provides transparent pay-over-time financial products. Reviewing card compliance, remediation, and regulatory requirements.

Responsibilities

  • Own end-to-end compliance advisory for the Affirm Card program, including card marketing, checkout, onboarding, wallets, disputes, and servicing
  • Partner with Product, Engineering, and Operations throughout the development lifecycle
  • Apply judgment under EFTA (Reg E), TILA (Reg Z)/CARD Act, and UDAAP to navigate novel regulatory questions
  • Review and approve card marketing, disclosures, and UX for regulatory compliance and consumer protection standards
  • Lead root-cause analysis and sustainable remediation for Card compliance issues
  • Partner with Compliance Testing, Legal, and Risk on regulatory exams and bank partner audits
  • Maintain the Card program's compliance risk assessment and control inventory
  • Develop and maintain Card-specific compliance training and reference materials
  • Serve as the compliance expert on new and evolving Card features and identify risk early in the product lifecycle

Requirements

  • 8+ years of experience in a compliance advisory role within financial services with a Bachelor's degree, or 6+ years with a Master's degree, or 3+ years with a PhD, or equivalent
  • Meaningful experience with card or payments compliance
  • Deep working knowledge of EFTA (Reg E) and TILA (Reg Z)/CARD Act as applied to card products
  • Familiarity with TISA (Reg DD) and UDAAP
  • Experience with card network rules such as Visa and Mastercard is a plus
  • Demonstrated ability to operate independently in ambiguous, fast-paced environments
  • Experience partnering with Product from early stages of product, feature, or servicing program development
  • Experience owning issues from root-cause analysis through sustainable remediation
  • Experience advising Product, Engineering, and Operations stakeholders on card, lending, or payments programs
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills
  • Strategic thinking and problem-solving skills
  • Ability to present complex regulatory issues to non-compliance audiences, senior leadership, and leadership committees
  • Compliance certifications are a plus
