About the role

  • Senior Financial Analyst supporting Sun Life Canada’s expense consolidation, forecasting and reporting. Building financial models and advising business leaders to optimize operational expenditures.

Responsibilities

  • Coordinate monthly forecasts and annual and strategic planning cycles to support consolidation across Operations Expense Management
  • Consolidate business unit submissions, validate completeness and accuracy, and investigate material variances, risks and opportunities
  • Coordinate planning timelines, assumptions, templates and inputs with Finance partners
  • Prepare consolidated expense outlooks, roll-forwards and management reporting
  • Maintain consolidation models, planning files and process documentation
  • Build and improve financial models and processes for monthly and quarterly reporting
  • Analyze expense trends to optimize operating expenses
  • Report outcomes for financial and non-financial metrics with commentary and insights
  • Support expense budgeting, forecasting, strategic planning and annual planning
  • Implement continuous improvements and document repeatable financial models and processes
  • Build partnerships with business leaders and act as a trusted financial advisor
  • Lead or support ad hoc financial analysis and consulting, including expense studies and cost-benefit analysis
  • Explain common charges and Sun Life expense management processes to business partners

Requirements

  • Financial designation with strong preference for CPA or MBA with commensurate experience
  • 5+ years of financial planning, reporting and analysis experience; preferably in Financial Services
  • Proficient in MS Office Suite (Excel, Word, PowerPoint)
  • Knowledge of various data management tools (i.e. Tableau, Python, etc.)
  • Financial modeling experience
  • Expense management experience ideal
  • Experience building executive-level presentation and content
  • Ability to thrive in a fast-paced environment with multiple competing priorities
  • Strong financial analysis, reporting and presentation skills
  • Ability to work both independently with minimal supervision and within a team environment
  • Some overtime required during peak reporting periods
