About the role

  • Student software engineer developing and testing APIs for Sun Life’s Group Benefits and Retirement Services technology. Supporting Agile Scrum delivery, documentation, and modern cloud development tools.

Responsibilities

  • Contribute to the development, testing, and deployment of APIs under the guidance of a Senior Engineer
  • Assist in gathering functional requirements
  • Help develop technical specifications and test plans with internal team members and external partners
  • Support system or project documentation
  • Work in a cross-functional Agile Scrum team
  • Build tools that provide simple and flexible ways to connect with Group Benefits or Group Retirement Services

Requirements

  • Currently enrolled in a relevant technology program, such as Computer Science or Engineering
  • Graduation date of April 2027 or later
  • Enthusiasm, professionalism, and willingness to learn
  • Fast learner with a keen interest in picking up new technologies
  • Strong coding, debugging, and problem-solving skills
  • Knowledge of an object-oriented programming language such as C# or Java
  • Familiarity with Microsoft .NET Core, .NET, or Java Spring Boot framework
  • Familiarity with SQL for relational or NoSQL databases
