About the role
- Platform Engineer building Supabase’s multi-region compute platform for scalable cloud database hosting. Designing orchestration, autoscaling, observability, and resource optimization systems.
Responsibilities
- Build and maintain the Supabase Cloud offering
- Design and implement systems to provision, scale, and manage multi-region compute workloads
- Own the full lifecycle of compute orchestration, including project creation, warm pools, autoscaling, resizing, and resource optimization
- Improve automation and observability across the compute stack
- Improve system architecture to reduce costs while balancing security, reliability, and performance
- Collaborate cross-functionally to leverage compute as a core platform offering
- Participate in on-call rotations, incident response, and post-incident reviews
- Resolve escalated support issues and identify and resolve systemic platform issues
Requirements
- Strong software engineering skills; Go and TypeScript required
- Experience building and operating cloud infrastructure or distributed systems at scale
- 5+ years of experience with cloud infrastructure; AWS required
- Experience with compute, networking, and storage services
- 3+ years of experience building custom Kubernetes controllers
- Experience operating large-scale clusters with tens to hundreds of thousands of pods
- Knowledge of networking and multi-region infrastructure design
- Familiarity with Postgres
- Experience with Infrastructure as Code tools; Pulumi highly preferred, Terraform/CDK acceptable
- Experience with QEMU, KVM, and NAS is a plus
- Experience participating in on-call rotations for large production systems
