About the role

  • Senior medical editor reviewing and leading compliant clinical documents for Syneos Health, a global life sciences services organization. Copyediting, quality control, regulatory alignment, project coordination, and training across medical writing teams.

Responsibilities

  • Maintain familiarity with FDA, EU, and other relevant guidelines and industry standards
  • Represent the editorial group in medical writing, study teams, and cross-departmental project teams
  • Monitor timelines and budgets for assigned projects and escalate deliverable risks
  • Provide technical support and expertise
  • Conduct training and mentor medical editing staff
  • Advise medical writers, medical editors, and study teams on quality review, compilation, and editorial standards
  • Serve as project lead for complex and/or large medical writing deliverables
  • Schedule and lead internal project-specific team meetings
  • Organize project-specific requirements and ensure information is distributed and implemented in deliverables
  • Serve as a member of the medical writing team for projects with medical writing deliverables
  • Provide feedback to the lead medical writer on editorial process progress
  • Copyedit assigned documents according to grammar, punctuation, spelling, style, AMA Manual of Style, custom style guidelines, checklists, and best practices
  • Perform quality review of assigned documents for accuracy
  • Contribute to process improvement tools and internal editorial policies and procedures
  • Manage assigned projects according to medical writing SOPs and client standards, on time and on budget
  • Compile medical writing deliverables as needed

Requirements

  • Strong familiarity with FDA, EU, and other relevant guidelines and industry standards
  • Knowledge of AMA Manual of Style
  • Knowledge of medical writing internal checklists and best practices
  • Ability to perform copyediting and quality review of medical writing documents
  • Ability to provide technical support and editorial expertise
  • Ability to train and mentor medical editing staff
  • Ability to lead complex and/or large medical writing projects
  • Ability to manage timelines, budgets, SOPs, and client standards
  • Equivalent experience, skills, and/or education will also be considered
