About the role

  • Data Engineer designing and implementing solutions for Skip’s Business Intelligence and Data Warehouse. Collaborating with a multidisciplinary team to innovate data solutions for a global online delivery platform.

Responsibilities

  • Design and implementation of software for systems that power Skip’s Business Intelligence and Data Warehouse.
  • Drive the innovation of Skip’s platform by improving the reliability, performance, and scalability of the network.
  • Integrate GPS tracking, real-time order processing, scheduling, and balancing into Skip’s world-class service.
  • Be a key developer on the DBT (data build tool) project, creating modular, tested, and documented data models using SQL and Jinja.
  • Transform data within the data warehouse to create clean, well-structured datasets for various use cases, including reporting, analysis, and machine learning.
  • Investigate and resolve data-related issues, proactively identifying patterns and trends to prevent future problems.

Requirements

  • 3+ years experience in developing big data pipelines, data warehouses, and/or software engineering
  • Strong hands-on experience with Python, SQL.
  • Experience working with multiple cloud platforms preferably Google Cloud Platform.
  • Design, develop, and maintain robust and scalable ETL/ELT data pipelines using SQL.
  • Strong in Dimensional Modeling concepts applying Kimball techniques.
  • Implement and champion data quality, integrity, and governance throughout the data lifecycle.
  • Work closely with a multidisciplinary team of data scientists, data analysts, product managers, and software engineers to understand their data requirements and ensure data solutions meet business needs.
  • Use software engineering best practices such as version control (Git), modularity, and CI/CD principles.
