About the role

  • Learning Designer creating accessible, performance-focused training for TD, a leading global financial institution. Developing courses, simulations, assessments, and learning assets across modalities.

Responsibilities

  • Translate approved business and learning requirements into practical, engaging, accessible, and performance-focused learning experiences
  • Develop learning journeys, curricula, courses, simulations, assessments, facilitator materials, performance-support tools, and reinforcement resources
  • Work with business subject-matter experts, change management, learning operations, learning technology partners, facilitators, and other partners
  • Design end-to-end learning experiences supporting development, transformation initiatives, role readiness, capability uplift, and sustainment
  • Apply instructional design methodologies, adult learning principles, and learner-experience practices
  • Create learning objectives, design documents, storyboards, course outlines, learning pathways, prototypes, and development plans
  • Select learning methods based on outcomes, audience, complexity, risk, scale, and speed to proficiency
  • Incorporate practice, feedback, reflection, assessment, coaching, and on-the-job application
  • Design and develop digital, microlearning, virtual, instructor-led, workshop, scenario, simulation, assessment, job-aid, facilitator-guide, coaching, and reinforcement assets
  • Translate complex policies, processes, products, systems, and business requirements into clear learner content
  • Write scripts, instructions, scenarios, examples, activities, and assessment questions
  • Partner with multimedia and learning technology resources to develop video, audio, interactive, and visual learning experiences
  • Adapt content for roles, proficiency levels, channels, languages, and operating environments
  • Conduct quality reviews and validate content with subject-matter experts and risk, compliance, or governance partners
  • Test learning materials and resolve design, content, navigation, or usability issues
  • Facilitate design discussions and communicate decisions, progress, dependencies, risks, and approvals
  • Prepare implementation-ready learning packages and support pilots, train-the-trainer activities, facilitator preparation, and launches
  • Monitor learner and stakeholder feedback and recommend adjustments
  • Design assessments and feedback mechanisms to measure knowledge, skill application, confidence, and readiness
  • Maintain learning assets, inventory, status, ownership, review dates, and lifecycle management
  • Contribute to continuous improvement of instructional design standards and reusable templates

Requirements

  • Three or more years of experience in instructional design, learning experience design, adult education, digital learning development, or a related field
  • Experience designing and developing learning solutions for a complex business or operational environment
  • Knowledge of instructional design methodologies including ADDIE, SAM, Design Thinking, backward design, and rapid-development approaches
  • Understanding of adult learning principles, learner engagement, knowledge retention, skills practice, assessment, reinforcement, and performance support
  • Experience translating business requirements and subject-matter expertise into learning objectives and practical learning experiences
  • Ability to develop storyboards, learning pathways, courses, facilitator materials, assessments, job aids, simulations, and digital learning assets
  • Experience designing across self-directed, virtual, instructor-led, video, microlearning, practice-based, and on-the-job modalities
  • Strong writing, editing, visual communication, and information-design skills
  • Ability to simplify complex or technical information without compromising accuracy
  • Attention to detail and commitment to quality, accessibility, consistency, and learner experience
  • Relationship-management and collaboration skills
  • Planning and organizational skills, including coordinating multiple deliverables and deadlines
  • Ability to work independently within an established strategy and escalate material decisions, risks, and trade-offs
  • Comfort working with evolving requirements, competing priorities, and transformation activity
  • Working knowledge of learning measurement and evaluation practices
  • Experience using learning-authoring, content-development, collaboration, and multimedia tools is preferred
  • Experience in financial services, regulated environments, contact centres, or large-scale operational learning is an asset
  • Bilingualism in English and French is an asset
  • Post-secondary education in instructional design, adult education, learning and development, educational technology, communications, or a related discipline is required
  • Certification or formal training in instructional design, adult learning, learning experience design, accessibility, or digital learning development is an asset
  • Commitment to continuous learning and maintaining current knowledge of instructional design practices, learning technology, accessibility, and emerging learning methods
  • For Quebec: proficiency in a language other than French is required to support or work with employees or colleagues needing services in a language other than French
