About the role

Responsibilities

  • Participate in the assessment, analysis, and diagnosis of Microsoft SQL Server environments
  • Analyze critical SQL queries, execution plans, indexing strategies, stored procedures, functions, and views
  • Identify optimization opportunities and risks related to database performance, security, availability, and operations
  • Contribute to improving the performance, security, reliability, and scalability of SQL environments
  • Assess monitoring, observability, capacity management, preventive maintenance, and incident management mechanisms
  • Analyze backup, restore, high-availability, business continuity, and disaster recovery strategies
  • Develop recommendations regarding governance, DBA best practices, and SQL standards
  • Support development and operations teams in improving data access and management practices
  • Participate in assessing a DBA operating model that meets the organization’s needs
  • Produce diagnostic reports, optimization reports, governance recommendations, and improvement roadmaps
  • Provide knowledge transfer to the relevant teams

Requirements

  • Hold a university degree in computer science, computer engineering, software engineering, information technology, or a related discipline
  • Have a minimum of five (5) years of significant experience administering, diagnosing, and optimizing Microsoft SQL Server environments
  • Demonstrate expertise in administering and optimizing Microsoft SQL Server databases
  • Have experience analyzing and resolving performance issues
  • Be proficient in analyzing SQL queries, execution plans, and indexing strategies
  • Have experience with high availability, backup, restore, and disaster recovery
  • Have experience monitoring and observing database environments
  • Demonstrate strong knowledge of best practices, SQL standards, and database governance
  • Have experience supporting development and operations teams
  • Have contributed to developing strategic recommendations or improvement roadmaps
  • Have delivered engagements in mission-critical or high-availability environments
  • Document five relevant engagements completed within the past five years, including at least three in mission-critical or high-availability environments
  • Be able to propose and present a structured delivery approach covering diagnosis, issue prioritization, targeted optimizations, recommendations, the roadmap, and knowledge transfer
  • Possess excellent analytical, communication, communication-for-nontechnical-audiences, and technical and strategic report-writing skills
  • Demonstrate autonomy, leadership, and excellent professional judgment
  • Possess excellent proficiency in spoken and written French
