About the role
- Freelance CTD Language Lead translating and proofreading English-to-Simplified-Chinese Life Science documents. Managing linguistic quality, client feedback, language assets, and linguist teams for TransPerfect.
Responsibilities
- Act as a client-facing linguistic point of contact for TransPerfect
- Review and investigate client complaints and quality-related issues
- Determine root causes and provide timely, documented responses and corrective actions
- Maintain language quality standards across projects and accounts
- Manage translation memories, glossaries, and style guides
- Work with Project Managers on project requirements, scope, timelines, and client expectations
- Gather and relay client feedback for current and future work
- Manage and guide a group of linguists, including assigning work and providing feedback
- Ensure linguists follow client requirements and quality standards
- Translate and proofread Life Science documents for regulatory accuracy, consistency, and terminology compliance
Requirements
- Exceptional written and verbal communication skills in English and Simplified Chinese (China)
- Expertise in CTD Quality, CTD Non-Clinical, and/or CTD Clinical fields
- Strong attention to detail, including spelling and grammar accuracy
- Ability to maintain professionalism and deliver high-quality work under tight deadlines
- Strong client communication skills and ability to handle complaints and feedback diplomatically
- Ability to manage, mentor, and give clear feedback to other linguists
- Strong organizational and cross-functional collaboration skills
- Applicants must meet at least one criterion: degree in Translation, Linguistics, Language Studies, or equivalent program with significant translation training; 2 years of professional translation experience plus a college degree; 5 years of professional translation experience without a college degree; or a translation competence certificate issued by an appropriate government authority
- Applicants must sign a confidentiality agreement
- Must complete free translation and MTPE assessments
- Preferred: academic background in pharmacy, pharmaceutical sciences, chemistry, biochemistry, or related field
- Preferred: experience translating regulatory/pharmaceutical documents
- Preferred: familiarity with CTD structure, terminology, and CMC technical content
- Preferred: prior lead, reviewer, or quality management experience, including client feedback or complaints
- Preferred: experience with language asset management and CAT tools
