About the role
- Software Engineer building AI-human workflow and cloud deployment tools at Upsun. Owning production software from design through deployment, reliability, and support.
Responsibilities
- Design, build, and maintain software within the team’s area
- Work with teammates from implementation through release and production support
- Contribute reasoning to design discussions and evaluate alternative approaches
- Make trade-offs among delivery, maintainability, and risk
- Collaborate with Engineering, Product, Design, and Support through interfaces, APIs, and user experience
- Use AI tools to support development and share approaches that improve team workflows
- Build quality, security, reliability, and production observability into software
- Exchange knowledge through pairing, code reviews, team sessions, and feedback
- Write documentation that gives colleagues context to understand and build on the work
- Participate in interviews including pair programming and, depending on scope, system design challenges
Requirements
- Track record of delivering reliable production software
- Strong programming fundamentals
- Proficiency in Python, Go, or TypeScript
- Ability to learn new languages and technologies as needs evolve
- Ability to reason about larger systems, including dependencies, data flow, and component failures
- Experience building or consuming APIs
- Experience working with data stores such as relational databases
- Habit of writing automated tests, including failure paths
- Understanding of security best practices in software development
- Familiarity with cloud environments and CI/CD pipelines
- Comfort working with AI as both a tool and a teammate
- Legally authorized to work in Canada, France, Germany, Spain, or the United Kingdom
- Successful completion of a background check
