About the role

  • Construction Manager overseeing various data center construction projects in Canada. Responsible for execution plans, monitoring progress, and managing labor relations.

Responsibilities

  • Develop and maintain construction execution plans, organizing and controlling all aspects of on-site work including civil, electrical, mechanical, structural, and technology infrastructure scopes
  • Monitor construction progress and implement corrective actions; ensure all internal and external project processes are followed and projects are delivered on time, on budget, and safely
  • Coordinate manpower and subcontractor allocations across multiple projects; work with Fleet and Equipment teams to ensure appropriate resources are deployed effectively
  • Work with QA/QC Management teams to ensure adequate quality oversight including compliance with data center commissioning requirements
  • Lead daily planning sessions with on-site personnel and prepare progress reports for the Director outlining project performance against schedule, budget, safety, and quality metrics
  • Support Human Resources in managing labour relations across both union and non-union workforces as applicable to project requirements
  • Lead training and development of field crews, supervisors, and foremen; support recruitment of field supervisory staff
  • Support the estimating and proposal process including reviewing estimate requirements, submittal packages, pricing, scheduling, and preparation of written deliverables
  • Manage existing client relationships and support the development of new customer relationships

Requirements

  • Post-Secondary education in Construction Management, Engineering, or a related field
  • an equivalent combination of relevant education and experience may be considered
  • 10 years of experience in the construction industry
  • Proven experience with data center construction, including medium voltage electrical distribution, UPS and standby generation systems, HVAC/cooling infrastructure, structured cabling, and BMS/DCIM systems
  • Demonstrated ability to manage large work groups of up to 100 people across multiple disciplines
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office and other computer applications for reporting and communication
  • Valid driver's licence with an acceptable driving record
  • Journeyman Electrician designation or equivalent electrical/mechanical trade certification (Preferred)
  • Experience with critical facilities construction and commissioning in mission-critical environments (Preferred)
  • Professional designation (P.Eng., PMP, or SCMP) or working towards one (Preferred)
