About the role
- Senior Frontend Engineer building reliable order-flow and trading experiences for Wealthsimple, Canada’s leading financial innovator. Owning frontend systems across equities, options, crypto, and real-time market data.
Responsibilities
- Own complex, end-to-end frontend projects across the trading experience from technical design through implementation, launch, and iteration
- Build and improve client-facing surfaces powering order flow and trading products
- Focus on reliability, performance, and correctness
- Work on order entry and execution, options trading, real-time market data, and portfolio experiences across equities, options, and crypto
- Make architectural decisions and help balance speed, quality, and scale
- Partner with Product and Design to clarify goals, surface trade-offs, and deliver outcomes
- Build with reliability and observability standards for trading journeys
- Leverage AI-centric workflows to ship faster and safer
- Contribute through design reviews, code reviews, documentation, pairing, and mentorship
Requirements
- 5+ years of professional software engineering experience
- Strong frontend fundamentals with React and TypeScript
- Ideally React Native experience
- Native mobile experience with Swift/iOS or Kotlin/Android is a strong plus
- AI-first development workflow with agentic workflows, sound judgment, risk awareness, and verification practices
- Product judgment and a maker-owner mindset
- Technical leadership and strong communication
- Experience building production-grade systems that real users depend on
- Nice to have: trading, brokerage, or real-time high-reliability financial surfaces experience
- Nice to have: GraphQL and performance optimization experience
- Nice to have: Ruby on Rails, Kotlin, or Java experience
- Nice to have: experience in fast-moving environments with broad engineering ownership
- Passion for trading and investing is a plus
- Must be legally eligible to work in Canada
- Must permanently reside in Canada
