About the role

  • Senior Financial Analyst guiding financial planning, reporting, and forecasting for William Osler Health System hospitals. Advising leaders and improving financial models, patient costing, and compliance.

Responsibilities

  • Provide complex financial, statistical, analytical and consultative support to hospital leaders
  • Partner with HR, Organizational Performance, Quality, Coding and Business Intelligence disciplines
  • Build business partnerships and support organizational success
  • Provide orientation, education and training on financial resource management
  • Support the organization's financial accountability framework
  • Assist with financial and business transaction process queries
  • Support quarterly and annual internal and external financial and statistical reporting
  • Assist with annual Operating Plan, Long Range Plan and periodic forecasts
  • Challenge program results and projections against economic trends and hospital strategies
  • Complete provincial reporting, including budgets, quarterly forecasts and year-end settlements
  • Analyze patient resource utilization and improve or automate patient-costing data processes
  • Educate stakeholders on Health System Funding Reform and review funding methodologies
  • Develop and implement financial models and improve processes
  • Prepare month-end revenue reports, adjusting journal entries and variance analyses
  • Support month-end and year-end financial close procedures
  • Prepare internal monthly and ad-hoc financial statements, identify trends and recommend actions
  • Prepare year-end working papers and support external auditors
  • Assist with ad-hoc projects

Requirements

  • University degree in Business, Finance or Accounting
  • Professional Accounting designation (CPA, CA, CMA, CGA)
  • 5 years of progressive accounting or financial analysis experience
  • Strong financial reporting and modelling skills
  • Knowledge of GAAP and MIS Guidelines
  • Knowledge of provincial government reporting, including OHRS, SRI, CAPS and ARR, considered a strong asset
  • Excellent analytical, interpersonal and written communication skills
  • Ability to manage multiple and competing projects effectively
  • Strong critical thinking, problem solving and analytical skills
  • Advanced knowledge of Excel, Word and PowerPoint, including financial modelling
  • Extensive knowledge of TM1, BI and ADS software, including data pulls, report writing and design changes, an asset
  • Meditech system experience, an asset

  • Must be resident of Ontario
