About the role

Senior Cloud Systems Engineer building AI-enabled automation and integrations for Xero's internal productivity ecosystem. Connecting Atlassian, Google Workspace, Slack, and emerging AI tools.

Responsibilities

Engineer AI-enabled solutions for Xero's Productivity and Collaboration ecosystem
Solve complex technical problems and contribute to engineering standards
Build integrations, workflows, and guardrails connecting internal AI tools to systems and data
Own significant technical challenges in the production environment
Engineer AI-enabled automation to reduce manual toil and improve efficiency
Build and maintain integrations across Atlassian, Google Workspace, Slack, and emerging AI tools
Contribute to technical standards and architectural decisions
Establish reliability improvements and maintain key system documentation
Collaborate across regions and with teams in the US and Canada
Support and mentor team members while remaining hands-on and technical

Hands-on experience with automation and scripting in Python, PowerShell, and Bash
Solid integration and API design knowledge
Experience with cloud-based productivity systems
Understanding of security best practices
Ability to leverage AI-powered tools to enhance task efficiency and automate repetitive work
Clear written and verbal communication skills
Ability to articulate trade-offs and decisions
Strong interpersonal skills
Ability to collaborate in a diverse team environment
Willingness to mentor others
