Design and develop GIS applications and automations for City services using ArcGIS, VertiGIS, Python, and FME. Collaborate with teams to build solutions and provide operational support.
Responsibilities
As a GIS Developer Analyst, you’ll design, build, and support geospatial applications and automation workflows that power critical City services —from transit and taxation to parks, roadways, planning, and emergency response. You’ll collaborate with business units across the organization to translate needs into well-designed solutions using platforms like VertiGIS Studio, ArcGIS Enterprise/Online, Python, and FME. You’ll maintain a strong understanding of spatial processes and proactively enhance them, while developing new tools and integrations that elevate how the City uses location intelligence.
Requirements
A Degree in Geomatics or Computer Science and 1 year of relevant experience OR a Post-secondary diploma in Computer technology and 2 years relevant experience OR a 1 year certificate in software development (with a minimum of 700+ instructional hours and relevant coursework) and 4 years relevant experience. General knowledge and skills in a variety of GIS technologies, including ArcGIS Enterprise, Enterprise Geodatabases, VertiGIS, Python, and FME. Ability to perform troubleshooting, solution delivery, and maintenance of existing GIS applications and systems. Understanding of City of Edmonton IT processes, procedures, and architectural guidelines. Strong organizational, analytical, problem-identification, and process analysis skills. Ability to establish and maintain good working relationships and collaborate effectively. Ability to provide guidance to less experienced staff.
