Medical Science Liaison supporting AbbVie’s Quebec medical affairs team. Building healthcare expert relationships and communicating scientific evidence across ophthalmology initiatives.
Responsibilities
Develop and maintain key scientific knowledge for credible dissemination to external experts and healthcare professionals
Develop and nurture relationships with established and emerging external experts
Respond to requests by providing scientific and medical information to external experts and internal stakeholders
Participate and follow up on investigator-initiated studies, clinical studies, and medical projects
Provide scientific support and maintain relationships with external experts and academic centres
Deliver scientific presentations to healthcare professionals individually or in groups
Participate in selecting qualified healthcare professionals for collaborative research and lecture or meeting support
Ensure scientific and educational integrity in collaborative efforts such as advisory boards, congresses, and symposiums
Attend scientific meetings and conferences and prepare summaries of key data
Coordinate scientific and medical engagement efforts across stakeholders within accounts
Develop interaction plans aligned with the Scientific Interaction Plan to achieve medical objectives
Communicate and collaborate with in-field team members to optimize business objectives
Requirements
Must have an advanced degree: Doctorate, PharmD, or MD
Relevant business experience with solid knowledge of the biotech/pharmaceutical industry
Previous MSL experience preferred
Relevant Eye Care/Ophthalmology background considered an asset
Previous customer-facing experience in the healthcare industry
Experience presenting and/or interpreting scientific or clinical research publications
Knowledge of scientific methods applied to clinical research
Knowledge of current legislative and regulatory controls
Keen interest in developing and maintaining expert knowledge of the assigned therapeutic area, product, and medical research
Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite, including Outlook, PowerPoint, Excel, and Word
Ease with technology and various tools/systems for day-to-day tasks
Ability to travel about 50% of the time
Valid driver’s license and passport
Fluency in English is an essential requirement
