Medical Science Liaison advancing AbbVie’s innovative medicines across Quebec. Building scientific relationships and supporting clinical research with healthcare professionals and external experts.
Responsibilities
Develop and nurture relationships with established and emerging external experts
Advance AbbVie’s scientific credibility with external experts
Provide key scientific/medical information to external experts and internal stakeholders in response to requests
Develop and maintain scientific knowledge for credible information dissemination to external experts and healthcare professionals
Participate in and follow up on investigator-initiated studies, clinical studies, and medical projects within the relevant therapeutic area
Provide scientific support and maintain relationships with external experts and academic centres
Deliver credible scientific presentations to healthcare professionals individually or in groups
Participate in selecting qualified healthcare professionals for collaborative research and lecture/meeting support
Ensure scientific and educational integrity in collaborative efforts such as advisory boards, congresses, and symposiums
Attend relevant scientific meetings and conferences and summarize key data presented
Coordinate scientific/medical engagement efforts across stakeholders within accounts
Develop interaction plans aligned with the Scientific Interaction Plan to achieve medical objectives
Execute data-based strategies and business decisions to exceed in-field team goals
Communicate and collaborate with in-field team members to optimize business objectives
Requirements
Must have an advanced degree: Doctorate, PharmD or MD
Relevant business experience with solid knowledge of the biotech/pharmaceutical industry
Previous experience as an MSL preferred
Relevant Eye Care / Ophthalmology background considered an asset
Previous experience in a customer-facing role in the healthcare industry
Experience presenting and/or interpreting scientific or clinical research publications
Knowledge of scientific methods applied to clinical research and current legislative/regulatory controls
Keen interest in developing and maintaining expert knowledge for the assigned therapeutic area/product and medical research
Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite (Outlook, PowerPoint, Excel, Word, etc.)
Must be at ease with technology and various tools/systems for day-to-day tasks
Travel required about 50% of the time
Valid driver’s license and passport
Advanced knowledge of English / Fluency in English is an essential requirement
