About the role

  • Therapeutic Specialist driving AbbVie pharmaceutical sales across Alberta and Manitoba. Promoting gynecology and gastroenterology therapies through healthcare-provider engagement and territory planning.

Responsibilities

  • Join AbbVie Canada's Gynecology & Gastroenterology commercial sales team
  • Cover Alberta and Manitoba, based in Edmonton or Calgary
  • Call on gynecologists treating Endometriosis and Uterine Fibroids
  • Call on gastroenterologists treating Chronic Idiopathic Constipation, Functional Constipation, and IBS-C
  • Develop business/account plans and execute brand strategy and tactics in the field
  • Deliver sales performance, brand KPIs, financial targets, and marketing objectives
  • Create pre-call plans and conduct post-call evaluations
  • Handle objections and concerns during face-to-face and virtual sales calls
  • Support stakeholder needs and build trusted customer relationships
  • Execute call plans, optimize key-customer coverage, and maximize sales opportunities
  • Build knowledge of customer needs, territory landscape, competitors, market dynamics, accounts, diseases, products, and clinical information
  • Share market intelligence with the district manager and team members
  • Differentiate AbbVie's value proposition with healthcare providers
  • Identify, develop, and maintain disease-state experts, speakers, and advocates
  • Collaborate in a cross-functional matrix team with medical, market access, government affairs, health education, marketing, trade relations, patient engagement, and AbbVie Care teams

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Science, Commerce or equivalent
  • Minimum of three to five years in a Specialty Sales role within the pharmaceutical industry
  • Gynecology experience is preferred
  • Gastroenterology experience is an asset
  • Established relationships with existing HCP targets are an asset
  • Physician/account-based selling, CHE / OLA / training, managed health care or marketing experience are preferred
  • Proven track record in sales and solid presentation skills both F2F and virtually
  • Experience with IntelAgree, DEVO, CTE/Concur, or Veeva is an asset
  • Strong ability to proactively identify customer style / behavior and quickly adapt selling approach
  • In-depth scientific, therapeutic, product and competitive knowledge
  • Strong business acumen and proficient use of business tools
  • Strategic and critical thinking capabilities
  • Ability to operate effectively in a matrix environment
  • Microsoft Office Suite proficiency, including Outlook, PowerPoint, Excel, and Word
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Teams, Zoom, and Veeva Engage/CLM
  • Position requires evening/weekend work from time to time, including overnight travel
  • Expected travel within territory is 50%
  • Valid driver's license and passport
  • Ability to think strategically and develop a high-quality territory plan
  • Sound business judgment and executive leadership mindset
  • Ability to predict contingent outcomes from customer and competitive perspectives
  • In-depth analytical skills
  • Ability to communicate and collaborate effectively with in-field team members
