About the role

  • Welding Robot Technician responsible for robotic welding at Aecon's Cambridge location. Ensures quality and safety in nuclear infrastructure projects through advanced welding technology.

Responsibilities

  • Responsible for Fanuc / robot programming and program modification of welding and material handling applications.
  • Familiar with Keyence welding camera(s) and Smartray weld inspection equipment is an asset.
  • Participate in Continuous Improvement projects and work with Engineering department to develop new welding techniques and process improvement.
  • Troubleshoot robotic welding processes and resolve welding issues.
  • Develop and maintain a database with records of changes and welding schedule.
  • Develop program routines for new jobs.
  • Responsible for making required modifications to robotic equipment to meet quality standards.
  • Develop and document process parameters for direct arc stud welding and GMAW operations.
  • Maintain safety standards of equipment and work area and perform all duties in a safe manner in accordance with safety policies.

Requirements

  • College or university degree in Engineering or related field (e.g., Mechanical, Materials, Mechatronics, Welding & Robotics)
  • Advanced welding knowledge and hands-on experience (mandatory)
  • 5–10 years of experience in welding, manufacturing, or materials science
  • Knowledge of ASME, CWB, and/or AWS welding codes considered an asset
  • Strong experience programming robotic, automated, or mechanized welding systems
  • Mandatory experience with FANUC robotics programming and operation
  • Ability to interpret, sketch, and communicate manufacturing concepts clearly.
  • Solid understanding of value-added vs. non–value-added manufacturing operations
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Excel and Word (intermediate to advanced)
  • Demonstrated problem-solving and troubleshooting capabilities; results-oriented and accountable.
