- Senior Software Engineer responsible for clearing operations in a financial services company. Working on systems critical to financial markets while collaborating with a global team.
Responsibilities
- Work in a team valuing quality of thinking, excellence in execution, practical solutions, and responsibility
- Own projects from ideation to deployment, building what’s necessary, not just what’s asked
- Design and build new systems for enabling new products or unlocking more revenue
- Refine existing systems to improve them meaningfully
- Learn about instrumental things in keeping the financial markets healthy
- See behind the curtains of building Alpaca and impact how we do things
- Participate in on-call rotation to ensure systems are in tip-top shape
Requirements
- 5+ years of hands-on experience building reliable and distributed systems
- Good foundational knowledge of how computers work, how the internet works, how databases work, how distributed systems behave and misbehave
- Productive with the following technologies: Go, PostgreSQL, Kubernetes
- Experience with designing good (RESTful) APIs and spotting bad ones
- Deeply interested in how traditional financial markets work
- Attention to detail and ability to work collaboratively
- Willing to push back in a civilized and productive way
- Ability to take the lead on a project and to roll up sleeves if needed.
- Knowledge about securities clearing & settlement, securities finance (nice-to-have)
- Experience with gRPC, Protobuf, Temporal, Grafana, Kafka/Redpanda, Helm, Docker (nice-to-have)
