About the role

  • Staff Software Engineer owning architecture, modernization, and production delivery for Tag Software Group’s enterprise software platform. Leading a lean engineering team across cloud and on-premises environments.

Responsibilities

  • Own architecture and design decisions for assigned systems.
  • Lead modernization of legacy systems into maintainable, cloud-capable architectures.
  • Review requirements and designs to identify architectural risk, technical debt, and feasibility gaps.
  • Maintain solution-level architecture documentation covering decisions, trade-offs, and rationale.
  • Design and implement significant parts of the system and ship production code.
  • Own delivered work end-to-end, including production health and incident resolution.
  • Apply AI-assisted development tools across design, implementation, and documentation.
  • Delegate work and help advance the wider engineering team.
  • Mentor engineers through code review, design discussions, and day-to-day guidance.
  • Act as technical backup to the Head of R&D and assume broader technical responsibility over time.
  • Translate ambiguous customer and enterprise requirements into technical designs.
  • Collaborate with product owners, QA, and subject-matter experts.
  • Communicate trade-offs, risks, and plans to technical and non-technical stakeholders.
  • Set priorities independently in ambiguous, shifting-priority conditions.
  • Support architecture, coding, mentoring, production support, and other team needs.
  • Participate in and help shape Agile ceremonies.
  • Work with React, TypeScript, .NET, Python, PostgreSQL, SQL Server, Oracle, Kubernetes, CI/CD pipelines, API gateways, service meshes, and OIDC identity providers.

Requirements

  • 8+ years of professional software engineering experience, including real ownership of architecture and design decisions.
  • Proven track record modernizing legacy systems into maintainable, cloud-capable architectures.
  • Full software development lifecycle experience: requirements through design, implementation, testing, release, and operations.
  • Strong relational database fundamentals, including PostgreSQL, SQL Server, or Oracle.
  • Experience in regulated-industry and/or enterprise software environments, with appreciation for compliance, data integrity, and audit requirements.
  • Solid grounding in secure coding practices and software design principles.
  • Track record of mentoring or informally leading other engineers.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication in English with technical and non-technical audiences.
  • Hands-on experience designing and owning CI/CD pipelines.
  • Experience with hybrid deployment models supporting cloud-hosted/SaaS and on-premises enterprise environments.
  • Experience across more than one of PostgreSQL, SQL Server, and Oracle.
  • Practical use of AI-assisted development tools such as Claude, Cursor, or similar.
  • Habit of evaluating and adopting new tools and technologies early.
  • Experience designing or shipping AI/ML-powered features in a production application.
  • Comfort operating with autonomy and ambiguity.
  • Self-directed “get it done” mindset.
