About the role
- Senior Product Designer shaping AI-first workforce management software for time-critical healthcare staffing. Leading product design, AI workflows and customer discovery remotely across Canada.
Responsibilities
- Pick up design work in flight, understand decisions to date and keep delivery on pace
- Lead design for new premium, AI-first product areas and the existing platform
- Lead end-to-end design initiatives for the AI-first platform while advancing the core platform
- Rethink workflows to remove friction for frontline and back-office users
- Design AI interactions, including confidence, errors, and scheduler overrides
- Work in an AI-assisted development workflow using Figma connected to AI coding tools via MCP
- Contribute to building the design system
- Design flows, states and interaction patterns across the product
- Apply strong visual design fundamentals
- Make pragmatic shipping and quality tradeoff decisions
- Bring Product, Engineering and stakeholders along through rationale, prototypes and evidence
- Plan and facilitate virtual and in-person customer discovery sessions
- Conduct discovery into workflows, jobs, workarounds and successes
- Run debriefs, synthesize learnings and validations, and write customer-facing follow-up summaries
- Make day-to-day design calls guided by design standards
- Participate in regular design reviews
- Work with the VP of Product on priorities and direction
Requirements
- 7+ years in product design, mostly on complex B2B or enterprise software
- Portfolio showing end-to-end work from discovery to shipped product
- Strong interaction design and systems thinking, demonstrated through complex, multi-step workflows
- Mastery of visual design principles and polished, information-dense interfaces in portfolio
- Pragmatic judgment balancing design quality with delivery constraints
- Ability to influence Product and Engineering through clear reasoning
- Track record of joining work mid-stream and making progress quickly
- Comfort with deep domain complexity; workforce management, scheduling, healthcare operations or similar rule-heavy systems are a strong plus
- Strong facilitation and research skills, including in-person sessions with frontline and operational users
- Hands-on experience designing AI-driven features and working in AI-assisted design and development workflows
- Design system experience, including building components
- Clear written communication
- Experience with unionized, healthcare or manufacturing workforces is nice to have
- Experience designing for high-volume mobile use by frontline staff is nice to have
- Independent contractor or own incorporated business arrangement
- NDA and privacy/security onboarding required
- Central/Mountain time overlap
- Available for occasional travel for customer discovery
