C++/C contractor modernizing a telecommunications client's Linux call-handling platform. Migrating CentOS 7 to RHEL 9 and 32-bit C++ subsystems to 64-bit architecture.
Responsibilities
Migrate 32-bit call handling C++ subsystems to a 64-bit architecture
Develop scripts and techniques to migrate operating systems from CentOS 7 to RHEL 9
Support modernization of Java-based web configurators
Participate in testing and release of the migrated system
Update CI/CD pipelines and other DevOps tools to support the migration project
Perform security tests and implement remediations
Work alongside an established engineering team while driving platform modernization according to a defined migration plan
Help the core team remain focused on field support
Requirements
Minimum 5 years of experience developing C++ applications on Linux platforms
Minimum 5 years of experience in Linux operating system development and bash scripting
Strong technical grasp of networking, virtualization, and security
Legally entitled to work in Canada without employer sponsorship
Able to contract directly with a Canadian entity as a corporation or sole proprietor
Strong written and verbal English communication skills
Ability to collaborate effectively with an established engineering team
Background in multi-threaded, high-availability real-time systems preferred
Experience with other Linux operating system migrations preferred
Experience with agentic AI techniques for software engineering preferred
Proficiency in Python, Java, or C# preferred
Knowledge of CI/CD and DevOps toolchains such as TeamCity, Perforce, Jenkins, or GitHub preferred
Exposure to voice infrastructure and telephony, such as SIP, PBX, and PSTN preferred
