Responsibilities
Oversee construction activities and site operations to ensure compliance with contractual specifications, drawings, and project requirements throughout all construction stages.
Provide direction and support to junior inspectors, ensuring the meticulous maintenance of records regarding contractor activities.
Collaborate with Contract Administrators, Engineers, and client representatives to ensure alignment with project plans and specifications.
Conduct thorough inspections of highways, roads, and bridges construction projects in adherence to the Ministry of Transportation, Ontario (MTO) Construction Administration Inspection Task Manual (CAITM).
Maintain meticulous and detailed descriptions of contract operations, recording the Contractor’s activities and progress to support monthly progress and final payments, utilizing insights from junior inspectors where necessary.
Document contractor activities, including areas of work, equipment movements, manpower allocation, and prevailing weather conditions.
Oversee and ensure the completion of all milestone inspections, and manage additional diaries as directed by the Contract Administrator.
Supervise and guide junior inspectors in their duties, providing mentorship and support for accurate monthly progress reports.
Support and promote a culture of health and safety by ensuring compliance with policies and proactively identifying and mitigating workplace hazards.
Champion adherence to established safety protocols and procedures, prioritizing safety and well-being for all involved personnel and stakeholders.
Ensure quality control and quality assurance measures are followed throughout the project.
Requirements
Road Construction Senior Inspector Designation (RCSI).
Strong communication, interpersonal, and teamwork skills in complex and changing environments.
Strong knowledge of Ontario legislation and the Occupational Health and Safety Act.
Proven knowledge of MTO requirements and standards.
Strong knowledge of construction methods, materials, and equipment.
Proficiency in Microsoft Office and other computer applications related to the work.
Ability to prioritize and work on several projects simultaneously with tight deadlines.
