About the role
- Lab Assistant maintaining laboratory glassware, supplies, equipment, and waste disposal for Apotex, a Canadian pharmaceutical company. Supporting QC operations on an afternoon shift.
Responsibilities
- Maintain a constant inventory of clean laboratory glassware and a clean washing area
- Execute the laboratory waste disposal program
- Identify and address potential Health and Safety hazards
- Perform automatic and manual cleaning of laboratory glassware according to approved procedure
- Monitor and maintain adequate supplies of lab consumables, cleaning supplies, and glassware
- Perform clerical support and other related duties
- Clean dissolution baths and assist with dissolution apparatus maintenance
- Collect and dispose of laboratory waste according to established protocol
- Perform LIMS entries for laboratory chemicals, prepare labels, and dispose of empty bottles
- Maintain orderly laboratory work areas, including sinks and countertops
- Maintain laboratory gas cylinders and replace empty cylinders
- Follow compliance, quality, safety, environmental, business ethics, and HR policies
- Collaborate as a team member to achieve work outcomes
Requirements
- Secondary School Diploma or equivalent
- Proficiency in Written and Verbal English communication
- Knowledge of Excel, Word, other Microsoft Office programs, and laboratory software programs and packages would be an asset
- Experience in a Lab environment would be an asset
- Ability to perform repetitive lifting of up to 50 lbs
