About the role

  • Christmas Kettle Assistant supporting The Salvation Army’s holiday donation campaign. Coordinating kettle workers, volunteers, schedules, supplies, and secure donation collection in Burlington.

Responsibilities

  • Assist with promoting, coordinating, and overseeing Christmas Kettle Campaign Worker staff and/or volunteer activities
  • Assist with overseeing Christmas Kettle campaign operations, including staff and volunteer scheduling
  • Assist with orientation and performance management of kettle worker staff and/or volunteers
  • Assist the Christmas Kettle Coordinator with scheduling and responding to emergency absences
  • Foster and maintain positive working relationships with kettle sites
  • Coordinate daily delivery and pickup of kettles to and from sites while ensuring donation security
  • Deliver and pick up kettles in emergency situations
  • Host at a kettle as required and ensure coverage for breaks
  • Ensure kettle locations have adequate literature and other supplies
  • Assist with transferring kettle contents into deposit bags for processing
  • Complete shift reminder phone calls and voicemail messages for volunteers
  • Perform other related duties as required

Requirements

  • Completed High School or equivalent
  • Minimum of one (1) year of prior related experience working in community-based programs would be a definite asset
  • Experience in office administration
  • Experience with general office equipment
  • Strong skills and experience using Microsoft Word and Excel
  • Valid Ontario Class “G” Driver’s License
  • Current driver’s abstract required for review and verification
  • Ability to lift/move up to 20 lbs. (11.34 kgs) safely
  • Flexibility to work days, afternoons, evenings, weekends, and split shifts, Monday through Saturday
  • Excellent interpersonal, communication, listening, problem-solving, analytical, and conflict-resolution skills
  • Ability to multitask and work effectively in a fast-paced office setting
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality and exercise good judgment
  • Ability to work independently and as an active team member
  • Compliance with OH&S Act and Regulations and The Salvation Army’s health and safety policies
  • Successful applicable screening and background checks, including The Salvation Army Abuse Registry
  • Original copy of a background check screening
  • Ability and willingness to support The Salvation Army’s mission and purpose in Canada
  • Appropriate Salvation Army identification must be worn
