Category Assistant supporting home decor, housewares, and related category planning for Canadian retailer Giant Tiger. Coordinating merchandising, product approvals, forecasts, and vendor documentation.
Responsibilities
Execute administrative support for category planning activities, including assortment preparation, category reviews, and buying calendar administration
Execute promotional and merchandising administration, including go-to-market coordination, proofing, promotional entry, and support for category marketing initiatives
Prepare product documentation and share product information with cross-functional partners
Prepare vendor information and documentation for accurate product setup and package requirements
Coordinate product sample management and product approval processes for new or updated product launches
Complete sales forecasts and maintain category and competitive market data for category planning and business reporting
Coordinate the release and completion of package and return sheets to ensure required store information is received accurately and on time
Requirements
Business, Category Management, Buying, or Equivalent
1-3 years related experience in assistant category management or retail buying
Ability to problem solve and make adjustments on simple issues
Strong attention to detail and organizational skills
Willingness to learn, take on challenges, and work within a team
Understanding of retail mathematics related to sales, profitability, and inventory
Strong verbal and written communication skills
Time management, organization, and prioritization skills
Love for product and passion for the Giant Tiger customer
Strong knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite, specifically proficiency in Excel
Bilingual English and French is an asset
Financial acumen is an asset
Must be legally authorized to work in Canada and maintain authorization for the duration of employment
