About the role

  • Packaging Setup Technician supporting GMP packaging operations at Apotex, a Canadian pharmaceutical company. Operating equipment, performing changeovers, and ensuring safety, quality, and productivity.

Responsibilities

  • Work as a team member to meet and exceed safety, quality and productivity targets
  • Perform daily packaging operations in compliance with company policies and Good Manufacturing Practices
  • Comply with Ontario Occupational Health & Safety requirements and Apotex procedures
  • Attend safety meetings and proactively prevent incidents and accidents
  • Report safety incidents, near misses and accidents immediately
  • Perform packaging duties according to Standard Operation Documents
  • Access current information and documents through official corporate sources such as ApoWeb
  • Exhibit Good Documentation Practices
  • Conduct quality checks as directed by technicians, supervisors and in-process Quality Assurance members
  • Report quality deviations and contribute to continuous improvement
  • Execute Packaging Orders efficiently according to company documents and regulatory requirements
  • Operate packaging equipment within specifications and report equipment problems to mechanical staff
  • Maintain packaging component supplies during operations
  • Participate in changeovers, sanitation and equipment setup, including assembly and disassembly
  • Select, care for and use tools, parts and equipment appropriately
  • Communicate necessary information accurately and on time
  • Support the team in delivering business results
  • Adhere to compliance programs, quality, safety, environmental and HR policies
  • Perform other relevant duties as assigned

Requirements

  • Grade 12 education or recognized equivalent
  • Able to lift weights up to 20 kg
  • Able to meet the standard physical demands in a manufacturing environment
  • Proven ability to express oneself clearly in English, written and verbal
  • Ability to understand and follow verbal and written work instructions without errors
  • Numeric skills to understand and achieve business targets
  • Reliable attendance and punctuality
  • Self-managed team player with a positive attitude, cooperation, communication, flexibility and initiative to acquire functional skills
  • Previous Packaging Operator experience in a GMP environment, such as food or pharmaceutical industry, is an asset
  • Basic experience using internet environments and MS Office tools
