About the role

  • AV Technician delivering live, virtual, hybrid, and broadcast events for Sun Life’s financial-services business. Operating AV systems and troubleshooting production technology in Toronto.

Responsibilities

  • Plan with business partners and recommend virtual platforms, audiovisual, and staging solutions
  • Rehearse and deliver planned services to ensure seamless event execution
  • Operate virtual event platforms, broadcast and video equipment and integrations, multi-channel systems, and video editing capabilities
  • Deliver audiovisual services for live in-person, virtual, hybrid, and broadcast corporate meetings and events
  • Troubleshoot technical problems and respond to late-breaking customer needs
  • Contribute to event reporting, equipment and inventory resourcing, and departmental tasks
  • Follow company policies and industry best practices before, during, and after events
  • Continuously improve processes while delivering quality results
  • Work with technician, Producing, Multimedia, and Operations teams
  • Provide occasional support at the Toronto Atria location and virtual event support

Requirements

  • 2+ years of technical expertise in a corporate event environment producing experiences for online and in-person corporate audiences
  • Accomplished event technician with troubleshooting skills under pressure and knowledge of a wide range of media, platforms, and venues
  • Experience leading partners, suppliers, and teams to deliver high-quality work
  • Experience in fast-paced, deadline-driven, high-volume, and live production environments
  • Exceptional attention to detail
  • Passion for corporate event experiences and awareness of current trends and techniques
  • Knowledge of industry-related equipment, systems, and terminology
  • Knowledge of AV and broadcast systems, including video conference hardware and software endpoints, hardware and software video switchers such as Blackmagic ATEMs and vMix, and virtual event platforms
  • Proficiency with MS Office Suite and Adobe Creative Suite
  • Ability to adapt to and learn production systems, equipment platforms, and integrations
  • Ability to build relationships and negotiate and resolve issues with stakeholders, vendors, staff, and team members
  • Adaptable and resilient, with the ability to maintain effectiveness through change and ambiguity
  • Industry certifications are an asset
  • Involvement in industry-related associations is an asset
