OCS Engineering Lead overseeing railway power systems design and technical assurance. Collaborating with teams to ensure integration and compliance in major rail transit projects.
Responsibilities
Lead the design, assurance and integration of transit power systems, ensuring that all solutions are aligned with project goals and client requirements.
Coordinate closely with civil, systems, and construction teams to ensure the seamless integration of OCS systems into the broader infrastructure.
Ensure compliance with applicable standards and regulations, maintaining quality and safety throughout the design and assurance process.
Act as technical lead for OCS matters with clients, contractors, and regulatory bodies to facilitate approvals and resolve technical issues.
Lead engineering design reviews, risk assessments, and quality assurance activities to maintain the integrity and reliability of the OCS infrastructure.
Mentor junior engineers and contribute to technical leadership and innovation across the team.
Requirements
Minimum 10 years of progressive engineering experience in design for major rail and transit projects, preferably within Canada.
Strong understanding of OCS design is required. Preferably with experience in both Light and Heavy rail.
Deep knowledge of 25kV AC, 1.5kV DC and 600V DC Traction power systems and their interface with OCS
Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering or related discipline; Master’s degree is an asset.
P.Eng. license in Ontario is required.
In-depth knowledge of Canadian railway design standards and regulations, Transport Canada Railway Safety Act, CSA standards, AREMA and Metrolinx/GO Technical standards.
Excellent leadership, communication, and stakeholder management skills.
Exposure to alternate project delivery models including AFP. Design-Build-Finance, Alliance or P3 structures is an asset.
