About the role
- Senior Software Engineer building AlphaSense’s AI-powered Excel plugin for financial professionals. Optimizing Office integrations used by analysts at leading financial institutions.
Responsibilities
- Own the Excel plugin strategy and connect AlphaSense’s AI-driven market intelligence platform with Microsoft Excel
- Develop and ship production-grade features for the Excel plugin while respecting Excel’s performance and stability requirements
- Work with Excel’s object model, calculation engine, and event system to deliver native-feeling features accessing cloud-based intelligence
- Optimize complex operations, memory usage, and plugin performance
- Follow and contribute to development, testing, deployment, and monitoring standards for Office plugins
- Support junior engineers through code reviews and pairing
- Establish the technical foundation and best practices for AlphaSense’s Office integration strategy
Requirements
- 5+ years building and operating large-scale production systems
- Deep expertise in JavaScript/TypeScript and modern development practices
- Strong understanding of asynchronous programming, state management, and event-driven architectures
- Experience with enterprise software deployment, updates, and version management
- Track record of building performant applications with excellent error handling and recovery
- Excellence in debugging complex integration issues and memory/performance optimization
- Ability to mentor teams and establish development best practices
- Preferred: Production experience with Office JavaScript API, VSTO, or COM add-ins
- Preferred: Knowledge of Excel's calculation engine, object model, and common power-user patterns
- Preferred: Understanding of financial modeling, data analysis workflows, or trading systems
- Preferred: Experience with React and modern frontend frameworks
