Senior Engineer at Arcadis leading design and integration of railway signaling systems for diverse rail projects. Ensuring safety and compliance while managing project objectives and technical documentation.

Responsibilities

Lead the design and integration of railway signaling systems for commuter rail, LRT, subway, and heavy rail projects across Canada and USA
Responsible for the design, implementation, testing/commissioning, and management of signaling and train control systems across both heavy and light rail networks
Develop and review signaling system designs for heavy and light rail projects
Prepare signaling layouts, control logic, and interface specifications
Ensure seamless integration of signaling systems with other rail subsystems
Plan, develop, and conduct factory and site acceptance testing
Oversee commissioning and troubleshoot signaling equipment
Prepare technical documentation including design reports, test plans, as-built records, and maintenance manuals
Liaise with clients, suppliers, contractors, and internal teams to deliver project objectives on time and according to specifications

Bachelor’s degree in Electrical/Electronic Engineering or a related field
P. Eng designation in Ontario, BC, or Alberta
10+ years of relevant experience in rail signaling engineering (heavy and/or light rail), including design, installation, and commissioning
Familiarity with signaling principles, system architectures, and applicable standards (e.g., CENELEC, AREMA)
Proficiency in interpreting technical drawings and using design tools (e.g., AutoCAD, Bentley Rail Track)
Strong analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills
Ability to work independently and collaboratively within multidisciplinary project teams
