About the role

  • Senior Engineer at Arcadis leading design and integration of railway signaling systems for diverse rail projects. Ensuring safety and compliance while managing project objectives and technical documentation.

Responsibilities

  • Lead the design and integration of railway signaling systems for commuter rail, LRT, subway, and heavy rail projects across Canada and USA
  • Responsible for the design, implementation, testing/commissioning, and management of signaling and train control systems across both heavy and light rail networks
  • Develop and review signaling system designs for heavy and light rail projects
  • Prepare signaling layouts, control logic, and interface specifications
  • Ensure seamless integration of signaling systems with other rail subsystems
  • Plan, develop, and conduct factory and site acceptance testing
  • Oversee commissioning and troubleshoot signaling equipment
  • Prepare technical documentation including design reports, test plans, as-built records, and maintenance manuals
  • Liaise with clients, suppliers, contractors, and internal teams to deliver project objectives on time and according to specifications

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Electrical/Electronic Engineering or a related field
  • P. Eng designation in Ontario, BC, or Alberta
  • 10+ years of relevant experience in rail signaling engineering (heavy and/or light rail), including design, installation, and commissioning
  • Familiarity with signaling principles, system architectures, and applicable standards (e.g., CENELEC, AREMA)
  • Proficiency in interpreting technical drawings and using design tools (e.g., AutoCAD, Bentley Rail Track)
  • Strong analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively within multidisciplinary project teams
  • Attention to detail and commitment to safety and quality
