About the role
- Senior ports transportation planner leading sustainable road, rail, and transit solutions for Arcadis, a global design and consultancy firm. Managing major port studies, client relationships, and multidisciplinary teams across Canada.
Responsibilities
- Develop and nurture relationships with key clients and identify opportunities for the team
- Manage and lead ports planning projects, supervising project teams and overseeing project tasks
- Provide expert guidance and technical oversight for road, rail and transit access solutions
- Support multidisciplinary projects across Canada and business units, including technical reviews for accuracy and standards compliance
- Lead ports planning projects involving access needs, feasibility, data analysis, policy analysis, operations analysis, and plan and policy development
- Lead major ports studies covering project justification, alternatives analysis, transportation network planning, operations, master plans, new mobility choices, and sustainable transportation
- Monitor emerging trends and technologies in ports transportation planning
- Implement and monitor quality control processes
- Build and maintain public- and private-sector client and stakeholder relationships at senior management levels
- Support business development by identifying opportunities, preparing proposals, and presenting to prospective clients
- Stay current with Canadian transportation policies, standards, market conditions, and trends
- Mentor team members and build team capability
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree or equivalent in Planning or a related field
- Registered Professional Planner (RPP) Certification or equivalent
- 15+ years of relevant planning experience, including leadership of the development and implementation of ports transportation solutions related to sustainable programs
- Recognized expert in ports planning
- Proven project success on various sized projects, including effective direction of project teams for project execution
- Strategic problem-solving skills and advanced technical knowledge in transportation planning
- Strong professional consulting skills, including project management, client relationship management, and commercial acumen at senior management levels
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills, including the ability to develop and deliver professional presentations
- Excellent time management skills, with the ability to manage multiple priorities and deadlines concurrently
