About the role
- Senior rail planner leading sustainable transit, LRT, BRT, and passenger rail projects for Arcadis. Managing clients, multidisciplinary teams, feasibility studies, and rail planning solutions.
Responsibilities
- Develop and nurture relationships with key public and private sector clients
- Identify business development opportunities, new prospects, and strategic client markets
- Prepare proposals and present solutions to prospective clients
- Lead and manage rail planning projects and supervise multidisciplinary project teams
- Oversee project execution, technical tasks, reviews, deliverables, and compliance with industry standards
- Support delivery of LRT, BRT, rail feasibility studies, and operations and policy analysis
- Provide expert guidance and technical oversight for innovative rail and transit solutions
- Lead major rail studies assessing project need, justification, alternatives, and sustainable transportation systems
- Incorporate emerging rail transportation and transit planning trends and technologies
- Implement and monitor quality control processes
- Keep current with Ontario and eastern Canada transportation policies, standards, market conditions, and trends
- Mentor engineers and planners and build team capability
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree or equivalent in Planning, Civil Engineering, or a related field
- Registered Professional Planner (RPP) or Professional Engineer (P.Eng.) certification or equivalent
- 20+ years of relevant planning/engineering experience, including leadership of passenger rail transportation solutions
- Recognized expert in rail planning
- Proven project success on various-sized projects, including effective direction of project teams
- Advanced technical knowledge in transportation planning/engineering
- Strategic problem-solving skills
- Strong professional consulting skills, including project management, client relationship management, and commercial acumen at senior management levels
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills, including professional presentations
- Excellent time management skills and ability to manage multiple priorities and deadlines
- Preferred: experience leading rail transportation master plans for major clients
- Preferred: experience winning and leading mid- to major-size projects
- Preferred: understanding of local public and private sector client needs and policies
