About the role
- Software Development Manager leading the Autodesk Platform Services Data Models Team. Responsible for team performance, project management, and client support initiatives.
Responsibilities
- Recruit and train top talent to build a high-performing team
- Be accountable for the teams' results and initiatives
- Plan and manage project delivery to achieve objectives
- Work with the team to break down complex technical requirements into logical execution steps
- Help the team identify, resolve, and/or escalate dependencies and blockers
- Lead the team in supporting customers and rapidly resolving incidents and issues
- Help the team understand the importance of customer focus and develop empathy for customers
- Guide the team to strengthen customer confidence in service solutions, including industry-leading resilience, performance, scalability, and reliability
- Promote and cultivate engineering and service excellence within our development organization
- Ensure team members understand how their work aligns with organizational goals
- Lead, provide technical guidance, and mentor developers to help them grow their careers and achieve individual success
- Improve developers' skills to meet organizational needs and individual career objectives
- Foster Autodesk's cultural values within the teams
- Improve engineering efficiency by observing the team, identifying opportunities, and driving improvements
- Find the right approach in the face of uncertainty and help teams manage change
- Manage team performance to ensure successful project delivery
- Inspire, motivate, and coach team members to achieve maximum productivity, creativity, and effectiveness
Requirements
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or a related technical field
- More than 8 years of professional experience in the software industry, involving the design and development of server/cloud applications and services
- More than 3 years of experience leading development teams and managing individual contributors, from junior to principal engineers, and from developers to QA leads
- Strong command of core technologies related to server-side development services in Java, AWS, and REST (required)
- Experience with the web technology stack, cloud computing, and cloud database technologies
- Understanding of service architecture, development, and testing
- Knowledge of AI-powered features using existing foundation models (e.g., OpenAI, Claude, Hugging Face, etc.)
- Experience with the software development lifecycle, its principles, practices, and methodologies, and with engineering best practices
- Experience on a Scrum team developing cloud services; proven experience and proficiency leading in an Agile development environment
- Understanding of Agile and scaled Agile frameworks
- Experience managing complex software projects with multiple dependencies
- Experience recruiting and onboarding new talent, and building teams to ensure their success
- Conflict resolution skills
- Experience presenting complex topics clearly to diverse audiences
- Experience managing change while overseeing projects, from business requirements to technical requirements, across all phases of the development lifecycle
- Willingness to collaborate with colleagues in different time zones, which may require limited work outside normal business hours
