About the role

  • Regional Employment Placement Specialist helping construction job seekers connect with employers through programs. Developing skills, assessing eligibility, and providing job search coaching in Victoria, BC.

Responsibilities

  • Developing and maintaining strong connections with local employers, educators, and community service providers
  • Promoting STEP through presentations, outreach, and community engagement
  • Participant recruitment
  • Assessing job seekers for program eligibility/suitability and helping them build tailored action plans
  • Coaching participants on soft skills, job search techniques, interview preparation, and workplace expectations
  • Connecting candidates with meaningful trades employment
  • Conducting site visits and supporting employer-employee success on the job
  • Data entry into CRM database, maintaining accurate files and reporting in line with program requirements
  • Representing STEP at community events and local initiatives

Requirements

  • Understanding of BC’s apprenticeship system (SkilledTradesBC)
  • Knowledge of the regional construction sector and employment trends
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office, data entry
  • Valid Class 5 driver’s license and reliable vehicle (travel is required)
  • Clear criminal record check
  • Ability to wear PPE and perform construction site visits as required
  • Bonus: Experience in the construction industry, skilled trades, employment services, and/or journeyperson certification
