About the role
- Senior Principal originating and underwriting metals, mining, and power investments for BCI’s Global Partnership Fund. Leading deal execution, portfolio oversight, and sector relationships.
Responsibilities
- Originate investment opportunities across metals, mining, and power, including direct, co-investment, and manager-led transactions
- Support the Managing Director in developing and maintaining relationships with mining companies, specialist managers, banks, and technical advisers
- Represent the strategic resources investment strategy in discussions with management teams, GPs, and technical advisers
- Lead or support deal evaluation, financial and commercial due diligence, and transaction structuring
- Apply commodity fundamentals, project and financing lifecycle knowledge, and mine-finance structuring expertise to underwriting
- Coordinate technical, legal, tax, and responsible-investment diligence with internal BCI functions and external specialist advisers
- Contribute to investment committee preparation, including investment theses and supporting materials
- Monitor portfolio investments, including financial performance, development and construction milestones, and covenant compliance
- Contribute to portfolio-level risk oversight across commodity, jurisdiction, project stage, and counterparty exposures
- Provide guidance to junior team members
- Help define the Global Partnership Fund’s investment approach and develop BCI’s sector network
Requirements
- 8+ years of direct transaction experience in metals and mining
- Experience gained through principal investing, investment banking, or a comparable capital-markets role
- Relevant education or degree
- Demonstrated understanding of commodity fundamentals and mine-finance structuring across the capital structure, including royalties, streams, offtake, debt, and equity
- Strong track record in deal evaluation, due diligence, and transaction structuring
- Experience spanning both credit and equity positions within the capital structure preferred
- Excellent interpersonal skills and ability to build relationships with management teams, GPs, and technical advisers
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- Strong quantitative and analytical skills
- Ability to interpret technical, commercial, and financial information
- Existing network within the metals, mining, or power sector preferred
- CFA, CPA, or MBA preferred
- Legally authorized to work in the country where the job is located
