About the role

  • Staff Frontend Engineer building TypeScript and React products for Bettermode, a customer engagement platform. Integrating LLMs into trusted workflows and shaping production-grade applications.

Responsibilities

  • Build and own the next generation of Bettermode products
  • Lead complex frontend work in TypeScript and React (Next.js)
  • Improve performance, state management, real-time UIs, and AI integration in the UI
  • Reach into backend systems when required to solve problems
  • Integrate LLMs into customer-facing workflows
  • Design for trust when working with nondeterministic AI outputs
  • Ship production-ready AI features
  • Conduct code reviews and help mid-level engineers grow
  • Shape engineering decisions and determine what the team ships
  • Take products from scrappy prototypes through beta users to production-grade systems

Requirements

  • Deep expertise in the TypeScript ecosystem and modern tooling
  • Ability to write clean, modular, scalable, testable, and maintainable code
  • Strong product judgment and ability to understand customer problems
  • Ability to distinguish throwaway prototypes from production-grade systems
  • Daily experience using Claude Code, Cursor, or a custom AI development setup
  • Experience applying AI to non-trivial problems and understanding its limitations
  • Ability to work with high autonomy in an evolving startup environment
  • Ability to translate business goals into shipped products with minimal supervision
  • Experience leading a new product from zero (bonus)
  • Prior Staff-level or equivalent software-company experience (bonus)
  • Strong product instinct demonstrated through customer-informed decisions (bonus)
  • Experience with multi-tenant systems and their architectural constraints (bonus)
