About the role

  • Intermediate Geotechnical or Geological Engineer at BGC Engineering Inc. in Ottawa, working within a multidisciplinary team focusing on tailings management and dam site project leadership.

Responsibilities

  • Act as a project engineer and technical lead under the direction of the Engineer of Record for tailings projects
  • Train, mentor, and supervise technical work of Junior staff
  • Manage projects, prepare proposals, and track budgets
  • Author or co-author reports
  • Organize and supervise field programs, including: site investigation, construction monitoring, and dam safety inspections
  • Work with client representatives
  • Help promote BGC vision, values and culture amongst BGC staff
  • Travel as required, which could include extended shifts at remote sites

Requirements

  • Undergraduate degree in Civil, Geotechnical, or Geological Engineering
  • Registered (or eligible for registration) as a professional engineer
  • 5-10 years relevant work experience in:
  • - Tailings management
  • - Tailings dam site investigation, design, or construction support
  • Fly Matrice M300 RTK drone for photogrammetry surveys
  • Excellent communication skills
  • Proficient in the use of Geostudio, Global Mapper, OpenGround, and Cambio TM
