About the role
- Buyer procuring materials, equipment, and services for Black & McDonald’s nuclear power generation projects. Managing suppliers, purchase orders, bids, contracts, and vendor performance in Pickering.
Responsibilities
- Secure quotes for materials, equipment, or services during the bid process
- Review vendor discount structures
- Identify and source materials, equipment, or services based on cost and quality
- Review material requests and prepare purchase orders
- Place orders to achieve the best-delivered project cost
- Establish supplier contracts and facilitate billing
- Increase or close out vendor purchase orders
- Complete and obtain approval for paperwork before placing orders
- Review committed costs
- Process returns, claims, and supplier issues
- Liaise with Quality, Accounting, Project Management, and Site Management
- Plan, coordinate, and execute procurement activities
- Prepare and issue RFP and tender documents, evaluate bids, and provide recommendations
- Complete contract administration activities
- Review and escalate claims
- Communicate relevant information to engineering, construction, QC, and accounts payable stakeholders
- Monitor and track vendor performance
- Develop and maintain vendor relationships
- Provide administrative support, assist in estimating, support field staff, and issue timely purchase orders
- Perform other assignments or projects as assigned
Requirements
- Bachelor Degree in Business (or related discipline) or related experience
- 1-2 years of procurement experience, preferably for nuclear projects in an EPC environment
- Experience on projects with low to medium risk and complexity
- Relevant designations preferred
- Proven understanding of procurement and contract administration process
- Strong communication, organization, analytical, and negotiation skills
