About the role
- Emerging Companies Counsel advising venture-backed technology companies on governance, financings, M&A, and commercial agreements. Shaping AI-driven workflows at an innovative legal services firm.
Responsibilities
- Advise founders on incorporation and ongoing governance
- Lead venture financings, including SAFEs, convertible notes, and priced rounds
- Represent companies in mergers and acquisitions
- Draft, review, and negotiate commercial agreements
- Serve as primary contact for a client roster and run matters end to end
- Identify issues proactively and bring in specialist support when needed
- Work directly with founders, investors, and counterparties to advance deals
- Help shape AI-driven legal workflows
- Spend more time negotiating, advising, and making judgment calls while reducing manual work that can be automated
Requirements
- 4 to 15 years at a leading law firm or in-house
- Experience advising emerging and venture-backed technology companies
- Strong commercial instincts
- Ability to give clear, practical advice across a wide range of issues
- Willingness to improve recurring legal workflows
- Openness to changing how routine legal work gets done
