About the role
- Lead mainframe developer designing and maintaining BMC’s mission-critical Db2 products for z/OS environments. Guiding development teams and resolving complex client escalations.
Responsibilities
- Design, develop, test, maintain, and deliver Db2 products, product lines, and solutions using C, C++, HLASM, and related technologies
- Design, code, and fix bugs in complex Db2 product solutions
- Produce high-quality design options and conduct code and design reviews
- Evaluate changes introduced by IBM Db2 and assess product impact
- Maintain current knowledge of Db2 technologies, mainframe environments, industry trends, and related software technologies
- Work directly with global clients on complex product issues and escalations
- Mentor and provide technical guidance to development team members
- Develop and enhance BMC AMI Copy for Db2 and BMC AMI Recover for Db2 within the Intelligent z Optimization & Transformation group
Requirements
- 10+ years of experience with z/OS environment, including z/OS structure and logic, Db2 internals, and z/OS internals
- 10+ years of IBM coding and development experience, including extensive system-side development using C and C++
- Good handle on HLASM, CLIST, and JCL
- Strong experience working with JES2
- Experience with IBM mainframe environment, including TSO/ISPF, JCL, Db2, and VSAM
- Critical dump-reading analysis experience using IPCS, XDC, or similar tools
- Experience developing code using low-level operating system functions
- Experience creating functional designs/specifications from business requirements
- In-depth experience troubleshooting complex application- and systems-level problems
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team
- Must be able to work remotely from the United States or Canada
- BMC is unable to offer visa sponsorship
