About the role
- Product controller overseeing U.S. fixed-income P&L, reconciliations, and general ledger management. Supporting BMO Financial Group’s banking operations through analysis and AI-driven process improvement.
Responsibilities
- Serve as the full-scope product controller for the U.S. Fixed Income businesses, including Primary Dealer, US Money Markets, Securitized Products, High Yield, and Origination trading desks
- Oversee and review accurate daily P&L and PAA reporting for various trading desks and products
- Review daily fluctuations and escalate significant items to management
- Oversee Front-Office to Back-Office reconciliations
- Understand trade flow from inception to the general ledger
- Develop working knowledge of general ledgers and settlement systems including ICI, Calypso, GMI, GlobalOne, ADP, LoanIQ, S4, and Progress/Essbase
- Ensure correct general ledger bookings and correct setup of new products in the P&L tracking process
- Manage product-related balance sheet and income statement line items
- Record, upload, reconcile, and coordinate general ledger postings
- Prepare P&L and Balance Sheet reconciliations for month-end close
- Coordinate with legal entity and regulatory accounting, risk, operations, and other support groups
- Create and update monthly analysis of key business drivers
- Prepare commentary and standard period-over-period analysis
- Leverage AI to drive efficiencies and scalability across Product Control
- Liaise with desk personnel on daily issues and meet monthly reporting deadlines
Requirements
- Undergraduate Degree in Accounting or Finance
- Minimum of 5-7 years of experience in financial services industry
- Prior experience with Fixed Income products and/or risk based pnl explain preferred
- CFA / CPA and/or Series 99/Series 7 a plus
- Strong knowledge of fixed income products and the MBS market
- Excellent computer skills
- Ability to learn systems quickly
- Ability to manage multiple tasks and meet deadlines without compromising data integrity
